Advise of Shaykh Rabee hafidahullah to the Salafi Youth

Sh. Rabee hafidahullah advises the salafi youth (taken from book: the rules and etiquettes of Ruqyah by sh. Salih ibn Abdul Azeez Aali shaykh hifadahullah page 75-79 (q & a session with the sh.)

Furthermore, we should develope brotherhood between ourselves, my dear brothers. We never experienced such a division and split. By Allah, the fitnah (calamity) that has now enveloped and surrounded the salafi call and those who follow it in the world has never occured before.

This is because the leaders have increased and love for leadership has spread unfortunantly. And the conspirators that exist among the ranks of the Salafi's are many. So they have split the salafi's and scattered them in all directions.  Therefore, you must beware of division and take heed of those who seek to cause splits in the ranks. Develope brotherly ties between yourselves and be like one body, as the prophet sallallahu alyhi wa sallam said:

"You will see the believers in their mutual compassion, love affection like a (human) body; if one part of it feels pain, the rest of the body succums to sleeplessness and fever".

And he sallallahu alyhi wa sallam said: "The believer towards another believer is like a building, they support one another." Then he sallallahu alyhi wa sallam intertwined his fingers.

I feel that today many of the salafi's, if one of their brothers were to get sick or be stricken by a calamity, they would find joy in that and not feel pain! why is this? It is because of the great amount of trails and ordeals that have occured amongst them, which the people of desires have spread. I have stated on more than one occasion that we met salafi's in the eastern and western parts of the world and found that they were all upon mutual love and brotherhood whilst follwing one methodology without any differences amongst them. And so because of this. the salafi call spread throughout the world, east and west. That is when wicked people amongst the jews, christians and Evangelists along with the heads of misguided sects such as the Raafidees and sufis who cooperate with the enemies and deviants, took note of this.

By Allah, they cooperate with the enemies and have hidden and open ties with them. And they only cooperate with them against the salafi Methodology . So they have spread and circulated the poisons of division amongst the salafis when they started to extend in the eastern and western part of the world. they spread the toxins of division amidst the ranks of the salafis causing the worst of splits between them. The result of this was that a group of people were brought up not understanding the salafi Methodology in its correct form. So now you can find someone claiming to be salafi but then all he does is break the ties of the salafis due to his bad manners, evil methods and wicked ways that have spread and which aim to cause division and fissure amongst the salafis. The Methodology of the salaf needs people with wisdom. And before that, it needs scholars. If these cannot be found amongst the salafis, then where would the salafi call be? It will be Lost, may Allah bless you.

So Aquire knowledge. Whoever amongst you feels capable and up to it, Allah will give him the ability to memorize and the aptitude to understand the religion. One should summon every ounce of effort he has in him to obtain knowledge so that Allah can bring benefit to the people through him. And he should try with all his power to reunite the scattered groups of salafis upon the true Religion of Allah, establishing brotherhood and unity amongst them. Search for these kinds of people and support them in their studies and in spreading brotherhood and love between the salafis.

As for everyone else, regardless if they are Jew or christians, propagate your call amidst their ranks with wisdom and fair admonition. Have you not read Allah's statement:

"Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair admonition and debate with them in a manner that is best?" (surah An Nahl:125)

Allah is telling his messenger sallallahu alyhi wa sallam here to use this type of call in front of the unbelievers since if the call lacks wisdom and fair admonition, the call will come to an end. If we employ brutality in our behavior and chase people away, that would be the end of the salafi call. The prophet sallallahu alyhi wa sallam said:

" Verily, amongst you are those who chase people away"

And he sallallahu alyhi wa sallam said :

" Make things easy and do not make them difficult. And give good tidings and do not chase people away."

Use these etiquettes. If you want good for yourselves and for the people, follow the Qur'aan and Sunnah's guidelines for interacting with one another and for spreading this call.

"Muhammed is the messenger of Allah and those with him are severe against the unbelievers and merciful among themselves" (Surah Al -Fat'h:29)

And he says:

"And lower your wing (i.e be courteous) to the believers." (surah al-Hijr :88)

And he says:

" And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you".(Surah Aali Imraan:159)

Allaah's messenger sallallahu alyhi wa sallam was the best and most perfect, eloquent and knowledgeable of human beings. Had he not had these characteristics, the people would have fled from him and abandoned him and his call. So what about poor you!! We need to have good manners and good interactions with one another before anything. And we need to have brotherhood and unity. Furthermore, when calling, we must employ wisdom and fair admonition.

"Severe against the unbelievers." This is if they do not accept our call, i.e we fight against those who deserve to be fought. But this of course is after the proper introductory steps- after the invitation and clarification; after all these things, may Allah bless you. Being severe and harsh against the hypocrites means that we establish the proofs against them, but not with bad manners.

The point is that we do not have any swords with us today except that of proofs, evidences, and good manners. Using proper etiquettes is the most effective weapon in suppressing deviants, repelling them with proofs and refuting unbelievers. And in this lies guidance for everyone, May Allah bless you.

We ask Allah to guide us and you to what he loves and is pleased with, and i hope that Allah makes me and you from those who when they hear speech, follow the best of it. Prepare yourselves mentally to benefit from the good and truth that you hear. And prepare yourseleves physically to implement and act upon that. And if Allah will, these evil phenomena will come to an end through wisdom and understanding and the enemies will despair over dividing and splitting us. But if we don't hear and use these manners, the salafi youth will continue to be a toy in the hands of their opponents and enemies. You must have wisdom and understanding. And you must have patience, affection and brotherhood amongst yourselves. Then if you spread this call using distinguished etiquettes, you will see how the people will accept this call. We ask Allah to grant us and you success.

I ask you permission, May Allah bless you to end here. The objective is not to have a lot of speech as a person may hear just one word and Allaah will benefit him by it. The salaf used to speak little, i.e. their speech was little, but their impact was great since they fell upon open and attentive ears. we Ask Allah to grant us and you success.

The Difference between a Student of Knowledge and a Student of the Internet

A Student of knowledge He is the one who before doing anything fixes his soul. Then he maintains his soul to upright character. Therefore he becomes an example for others, in his character and manners. The student of knowledge strives for knowledge and benefit. The seeker of ilm does his utmost to sit with scholarly men, people of piety and in circles of knowledge. The person striving to learn his deen constantly equips himself with beneficial knowledge and information. He safeguards his time. Hence you don’t see him involved in things which are useless. The student of knowledge turns away from things that don’t concern him, and busies himself with things that affect him.

Whenever he speaks, he brings benefit to the people, and when he writes it’s beneficial. Furthermore whoever sits with him ,learns something. He gives precedence to knowledge, its people, consequently benefitting from them. As result of this he honors the people of knowledge; he supplicates for them, and asks Allah to have mercy and forgiveness for the deceased scholars.
The Talibul Ilm hates backbiting, abhors the backbiters and detests anyone’s name mentioned in a bad light. Another thing to notice about the student of knowledge is, he’s humble, he doesn’t raise himself above his level. He doesn’t act like he’s loaded with something he really can’t  offer. This student isn’t misled by people praises of him, people blowing him up to be a big shot, or their extolment of him.
The student of knowledge doesn’t want to be famous, so he doesn’t seek fame from the people. Reason being, he knows that it’s Allah who raises the people and gives them rank, not such and such. This seeker of knowledge is one who calls to Allah and advises the Muslims. He enjoins what’s right and forbids what’s wrong based on the Islamic principles and guidelines. You will notice that the student of knowledge is always trying to unite the Muslims and their hearts. He can’t stand division between the people of the Sunnah. He is well aware that division is connected to innovation, and unity is connected to the Sunnah. For that reason it is said,“ Ahulus Sunnah wal Jama’a and Ahul Bid’ah wal Farqa”.

Moreover, you will notice that the student of ilm is shy to speak. He doesn’t speak about everything or every affair that happens among the people. He remains silent, because he knows that he will be called to account for his words, the same way for his actions. Hence, he safeguards his  own well being in his speech and actions. He won’t open a door to evil for the general masses.

The Talibul Ilm doesn’t embark on issues of falsehood and deal with things he’s unaware of. That’s why; he enters into issues with clarity. He is aware of them inside and out. He is prepared for the meeting with Allah.

These are some of the traits of the student of Knowledge. May Allah give them to us-Ameen
The student of the Internet. First of all, he doesn’t have any of the traits we mentioned, as this is witnessed. The student of the net is shameless in his character. He displays arrogant behavior towards people. The student of the World Wide Web wastes his time in things that are fruitless. He attacks anyone, regardless if they are a minor or senior. He hurls his assault without maintaining the reverence of knowledge, age, or its people.

The student of the internet learns hatred, he follows the mistakes and slip ups of others. These are the fruits of learning from the internet. The student on this path days and years remain empty. He is unable to relax and the people can’t feel at ease from his harm and evil.

In conclusion, if you want to be a student of knowledge, here you are! Take the path. The milestones have been laid out for you. On the other hand if you want to be a student of the internet, there you are! There is the way. That path is full with filth and rubbish. So disgrace yourself, if you want to be a student of the net, but beware of lying to the people claiming you’re a STUDENT OF KNOWLEDGE!

"I am a Sunni and I am not a Salafi."

By Shaykh Salih as-Suhaymee
Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

The question: When this person begins Ruqiyah (reciting Qur’aan upon a person as a form of treatment) he says: "I am a Sunni and I am not a Salafi."

The Shaykh Answered:

‘As for the saying: ‘I am a Sunni and I am not a Salafi.’ Then this statement is contradictory!

The Sunni O you Miskeen (impoverished person) is the Salafi, and the Salafi is the Sunni. Whoever distinguishes between the two then he has disti...nguished between two things which resemble each other; so the Salaf are the Ahl-ul-Sunnah and the Salafeeyoon are the followers of the Sunnah, and whoever absolves himself from that then he is not a Sunni nor a Salafi!

Just because some of the people claim Salafeeyah and they do not actually exemplify it, then this does not allow you to free yourself from Salafeeyah, rather it is obligatory upon you to honour yourself by ascribing yourself to the Salaf and to the Manhaj of the Salaf, since indeed ascription to that is obligatory.

Ahl-ul-Sunnah, the Salaf, the followers of the Salaf, the Firqat an-Najjeeyah, the Taifat-ul-Mansoorah , the Jamaa’ah, the Salafi and the Sunni, all of these mean one title: and they are the Jamaa’ah, and they are similar to those whom were upon what the Prophet -sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam- and his Companions were upon.

So be a serious Salafi – be a serious Salafi, just like the Salaf used to say – a Salafi ascribing to the Manhaj of the Salaf in sayings, actions and belief.

And I believe that whoever brags with this type of talk (‘I am a Sunni and I am not a Salafi.’) is very far from the Manhaj of the Sunni which is the Manhaj of the Salaf..

May Allah give everyone the capability to obtain beneficial knowledge and righteous actions. May Allah send prayers, peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his Family and all his Companions.’

Surah Al Fajr

1. By the dawn;
2. By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah),
3. And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah).
4. And by the night when it departs.
5. There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)!
6. Did you (O Muhammad ()) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)?
7. Who were very tall like lofty pillars,
8. The like of which were not created in the land?
9. And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)?
10. And (with) Fir'aun (Pharaoh), who had pegs (who used to torture men by binding them to pegs)?
11. Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah).
12. And made therein much mischief.
13. So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment.
14. Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them).
15. As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me."
16. But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!"
17. Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)!
18. And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)!
19. And you devour inheritance all with greed,
20. And you love wealth with much love!
21. Nay! When the earth is ground to powder,
22. And your Lord comes with the angels in rows,
23. And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him?
24. He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!"
25. So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish.
26. And none will bind as He will bind.
27. (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction!
28. "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him!
29. "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves,
30. "And enter you My Paradise!"
